Farshideh Einsele is a post doctoral research fellow
in the Computational
Imaging Lab, advised by Dr.
Foroosh . Her research interests include text extraction and recognition from
very low resolution images such as those embedded in web images or in natural scenes
captured by digital cameras especially by cell phone cameras. Text extraction and recognition
in low resolution images is challenging since text in such images varies in its size,
orientation, style, illumination and is surrounded by complex non-text regions and can
suffer from perspective distortion. More details can be found here.
Farshideh Einsele got her B.E. and M.S. degrees in the
Dept. of Electrical Engineering at the Federal Institute
of Technology (ETHZ), Zurich, Switzerland in 1990. After several years
working in industry and lecturing Computer Science and Telecommunications, she pursued her
PhD in the University of Fribourg , Fribourg,
Switzerland in 2008. See also her PhD thesis:
"Recognition of Ultra Low Resolution, Anti-Aliased Text with Small Font Sizes".
Farshideh Einsele is married and has two teenage children: 16 (boy) and 13 (girl).
